This is supposed to happen the first time Persephone is back to the Underworld….so I went and made a sequel for a comic that hasn’t even happened yet. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey….

Er… In depictions and stories, Thanatos was described as having skin an opposite tone from all the rest of those who were gods (which was assumed to be the tan of the islanders).
As well, Thanatos guarded the Underworld to prevent the dead and the children of Tartarus from escaping, Charon would have been the one to escort Persephone back to Hades.
As well, he was a winged god who was said to be compared to Eros quite often, for both were highly attractive and stunning in appearance.
I was not aware of the description of his skin, so thank you! New information is always good!
Well, this is a fancomic, based on myths, we don’t expect to be 100% accurate to everything because honestly with the different versions we’ll go mad (but as far as I can tell, I believe my writer is doing an awesome job). What we know is that Thanatos is referred to as the personification of Death and also as GUIDE of the dead (although many times Hermes is the one who takes over this role), while Charon is the ferryman aka the man on the boat carrying people through the Styx. So maybe it would make sense either of them would escort her, but in our comic we decided to give Thanatos a more prominent role. Worry not, we have Cerberus to keep anyone to try to escape, because he’s basically that, a guard dog.
About the wings, that’s entirely my fault. Back when I drew this I really needed to refresh my mythology notes and I gave him bat wings. This mistake is corrected in his final design and now he has fluffy feather wings and if I’m allowed to say it, he’s an attractive moffo.
Don’t forget Hekate! She’s also a psychopomp (guide of souls) and is specifically Persephone’s trusted servant and guide. One of her titles in respect to Persephone translates as “one who walks before” — i.e., her torchbearer (and “lightbearer” is another of Hekate’s title), a servant specifically tasked with lighting the way for her mistress so she doesn’t get lost. Hekate was also one of the two witnesses to the “abduction” of Persephone, often has a significant role in this myth, and had her own temple in the complex at Eleusis.
Just one more version…
(I’d love to see Hekate appear in the comic, but I’m not at all saying you should change it just for my tastes.)
Aaaand another round, because input and useful information.
(don’t worry she’s going to appear *cough* yep *cough*)
